just got the T-Mobile Wing, and as you know it runs WM6 Professional edition. I put the cab file on my memory card, and even tried downloading and installing it straight from Pocket IE and saving it and trying to install it. I even used ActiveSync to see if it would install. No go. T-Mobile tech support says they don't support 3rd party apps, and for me to check with Opera. It gives an error that says: "Installation of opera_wm5_ppc_865.cab was unsuccessful." Anyone have any suggestions?

I also went to a T-Mobile store and the rep had the same problem. He couldn't install Opera. Is this due to T-Mobile being slick, or should I try to put a custom ROM on the device?

Before doing anything like a new rom, try loading a previous version of opera on your wing. I can't recall having any problems when I had opera on my wing.

Did you recently get a WING? I know one of the first things I did with mine was perform a hard reset of the device. It seems to help with device functionality over just using straight from the box. You get the same OS with the same plug-ins but there is usually some leftover garbage from when they load those devices that gets removed and it works by far better. I have customized mine and removed a lot of the t-mobile utilities since they were not needed. ONE thing if you have everything saved already on your WING do not perform a hard reset since you will wipe out all your personal data on the device.

I had some cab files that would not install from the memory card but would when I put them in regular memory.

Opera will not work properly on mem card. Install to phone's memory. I' had similar problem on my MDA.

T-Mobile played themselves. They are really slick. When I downloaded the Opera browser, it was using T-Mobile's EDGE network. It would download, but wouldn't install, and it gave an unsuccessful installation message. Then last night, I used my own Wi-fi connection from my router, and it downloaded fast like say it was 3G, and then it installed. T-Mobile must be blocking stuff from their network.

I have no problem using Opera on my memory card. In fact the current version - not the beta is made to be used on the memory card.

I' don't believe they were blocking it. Something else must have prevented the phone from installing. I' download most of my .cab files directly on my MDA. Never had a problem. Only problem I' had was when I' put Opera on my memory card. After installing to phone's memory every thing was working fine.
