W-CDMA is not to be confused with CDMA. W-CDMA is a 3G based tech. It used for 3G. It can be associated with UMTS/HSDPA, or EVDO.

WCDMA - wideband code division multiple access - simply allows more throughput than our current TDMA (time-division multiple access) based GSM service. at&t (and the majority of other countries for that matter) already use wcdma in the form of umts and in some places hsdpa and yes they still use sim cards. These new sims are called USIMs i believe.

there is word of a sim upgrade (to 64k sims - not necessarily usims) going through tmobile right now, but no one i talk to knows anything of the details. will it be like when we went from 16k voicestream sim cards to the 32k tmobile ones? does this mean these sims include the imsi info necessary to access a umts based network? i may be getting ahead of myself here, but believe everything is in place and we're just waiting on the gov't now...

I read that "stick together" SIM is 64k SIM (when I read on ebay)
can anybody confirm this?
I have several of them
to avoid confusion of WCDMA with CDMA, WCDMA is also called UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)
go to wikipedia.org, and key in UMTS
I am expecting UMTS on T-Mobile, the signal strength of UMTS 2100 is similar with GSM 1800 (using CSL)
no matter how good HSDPA on CSL, I have to keep Peoples, because the phone (either 6120 or N73) is strictly limited to be used as modem, NO net access directly from phone, and realplayer don't work

most of the newer phones sold now are indeed including a 64k sim card, in preperation for the 3g launch, some phones still maintain the 32k sim, razrs and rizr mostly from what i am seeing still. the sam t219s has the 64k sims now. and quite a few others like the nok 5300 and stuff

Can someone post a picture of what the new T-Mobile 3G SIM cards look like?

I doubt there's NO 3G SIM, it may be "Stick Together" 64k SIM
btw, how can I know the capacity of SIM?

my local store went to keep the included sim when i was buying my curve. on my receipt it said tmobile 64k sim card. when i went back in and asked to get the sim, they explained to me there was no difference in contact storage capacity. that said, where does the other newly added 32k go? could some one please comment if they have 100% correct information on the difference between a 32k and 64k sim?

Both of these card will hold the same number of contacts. However, the 64k SIM card is able to store more SMS messages than the 32k SIM card can.

A picture would be helpful here of the 2 SIMS.

In regards to the change in SIMS, what will that mean for those of us who have been established customers. Will they replace them or will we just keep on using what we've got? I'll admit, I'm a little dumb on this topic.

"Stick Together" SIM is needed for 3G service
if you don't need it, keep the current one
I have to switch anyway because I switch phones several times everyday, that causes good FWT on contact
