Generally, I would not believe anything like that, unless something is issued from DT's press office directly.
Many months ago, rumors were rampant that DT was going to sell T-Mobile USA. When DT issued a formal statement that they are keeping T-Mobile USA, as well as looking at all the money that DT spent on the spectrum auction, the rumor mills disappeared. :)

When DT issued a formal statement that they are keeping T-Mobile USA, as well as looking at all the money that DT spent on the spectrum auction, the rumor mills disappeared. :)This is part of an ongoing and messy negotiation with labor... that has been a serious challenge for the former state sponsored monopoly (i.e., profits weren't always a focus, but unemployment was)... And labor was really freaked out last year when Blackstone made their investment in DT.
Anyho, DT has been restructuring for years... as they have a number of challenges related to legacy businesses. In some cases they have spun off or sold various pieces... in others they have given away fairly lucrative packages to employees to walk away.
And, this problem has somewhat spilled over into the US. Anyone want to guess which state leads in the US challenge? California. :)
This has been very much a public battle that is being fought on many fronts.
