So, Im one of the cheap folks who rigged my settings to proxy most stuff through my 5.99 plan. Which I thought was GPRS. I was going to upgrade to edge to get faster data rates, until I realized I was already on edge.

At any rate, my google maps, IE and such were working fine until yesterday. hmmm...

I hear that they change this stuff on the fly, and just wanted to know if there was anyone else in chicago having the same problems before I considered shelling out the $20

thanks guys

You'll get Edge if Edge is available in your area and your phone is equipped for it, and GPRS if it isn't.
Is it working again this morning?

Also it has nothing to do with being cheap and using the 5.99 settings. I do it just because the information is out there. Has nothing to do with cheap. Sometimes this happens to me. I usually just shut the phone off and turn it back on. Usually starts working after that. Not sure what causes it.

THIS JUST IN:

I finally broke down and called T-mobile. So see if something happened and/or upgrade my data plan.

I did two things, one of which restored my data svcs.

1) The CSR reset my network settings
2) I unseated the sim and popped it back in (she said its recommended to do that once a week? WTF?!)

The first thing she did was remove my 5.99 plan. She said that t-zones is free for all, and that 5.99 is just to allow crappy phones to access other sites online. 5.99 wouldnt work for me, and if i wanted more than t-zones i would need to do the 19.99 total inet.

Funny thing is, even without my 5.99, I got onto google maps, PIE was all over the place and my pocket express was updating... SWEET

Now if i could just figure out a nice IM client that can use the proxy I will be set

can anyone help? OZ sucks cuz it doesnt do google talk (my preference) and IM+ doesnt work through the proxy.

If you can help me out, ill love you forever!!

Hmmmm very weird. About two days ago, my $4.99 T-zones went out for a day and a half. I couldn't get on through the phone's browser, or Google Maps, Gmail, or any other Java apps. But as off last night and today it is working fine for me, don't know if these two are related at all.
