I am in the market for a new phone, and really want a smartphone/PDA type device.
Touch screen is not that important for me, and I don't do a lot of web/data stuff on my cellphone. That is what my work issued BB is for.
I have used Palm and WM in the past, and BB is out as I want to sync it at work and already have a BB there.
My question is what are the pros and cons of Symbian, WM, and Palm.
I realize this might start a debate much like the MAC vs Windows vs Linux, so please try not to be fanatic about your comments.:D

I would avoid Palm (at least for now). It had it's glory days but it's now gone. They are working on a new OS that they hope will revive their brand but it met delays.
T-mobile don't even carry Palms at all. You have to get unlock version of Palm to work on T-mobile.
I haven't heard too much about Symbian so I don't know much about it. As for Windows Mobile, well... I heard there's few glitches to it. I will get a Windows Mobile so I will let you know about it later.
As for Linux, I take it that you like to work and play around with the phone? Because as it is now, it's not really ready for an average consumer. There is a phone made specially for the Linux OS. I don't remember the website but right now they are out of stock.

IMO Symbian OS is a little easier to navigate and looks alot better than WM.I think it's one of those apples and oranges things though.
I agree with secrecyguy on Palm, stay away until the revamp the OS.I think I read it'll be ready at the end of 08

The Shadow should be a killer device, the only thing i'm afraid of are the memory leaks that WM phones are known for. I will be testing this device tomorrow, so I'll let you know what the pros/cons of that device are!

I know this.

As I said, I have used WM (MDA, SDA, and Dash). Of the three I liked the MDA best, I like the touch screen.

My comment regarding Mac vs Wintel vs Linux and fanatics, was a reference to the way that many people feel about the operating systems they chose for their desktop. When I sold computers at Computer City (who remembers them?), People were fanatical about their choice, and if you read online posts at that time you could easily start a flame war about which operating system was better.
My question was not looking strictly for opinions, but I also wanted some facts (i.e. x is better at this because). When I sold computers, hands down the Mac OS was superior for graphics editing.

Hope this helps

It looks nice but it has no touch screen when it looks like it does?
It will be a flop. In few months, I know we going to see the price get reduce alot.
