I just purchased a Nokia E61 and was wondering if anyone on here has one, or has had one and could answer a couple questions for me. I would like to know what apps are good ones to have on this phone and if the Opera Mini browser is a good thing to have, or is the browser that comes in the phone good enough? Has anyone used one of these phones on T-Mobile? The one I have is unlocked, so I'm pretty sure I could use it on T-Mobile. Any suggestions or recommendations would be welcome! Thanks in advance.

Dan

I don't have an e61,but I would assume if it's like other more recent Nokias the web browser would be excellent on its own.But OperaMini should work on it if you wanted to try it.I have the older OperaMini on my SE and love it!The beta version of 4 is supposed to be even better.
If it's unlocked, all you have to do is put your sim in and you're ready to go.

Thanks for the reply homobile! I haven't tried it yet, but was just curious to find out what other people have done to enhance the e61, in terms of browser, apps, etc., since it's been out for a while.

Dan, congrats on the new phone. Yes, the E61 can be used on T-Mobiles network once you have configured the settings properly. You can have the settings sent to your handset from T-Mobiles website in this link: T-Mobile Wireless Data Configurator (http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/). I've used Opera Mini a lot recently, and I prefer that over my regular browser.

If you're unlocked phone isn't on the list to configure, what do you do?

Thanks Ellen! I checked the link you sent and the e61 is listed, so I'll configure it to T-Mobile when I get back to the States.

Nokia e61i is a fantastic solution device for office & personal use. Features are good enough but if Nokia people would have provided touchscreen facility it would have been the best in qwerty series, but OK the price is little high & performance is good so far.;)

Its a good phone once you get used to it. Providing you've got it for the right reasons ie email & coms its perfect. The music player is a good bonus.
I like it!

Thanks for the reply Alberto! I like it and those were the reasons I got it -- email, comms and Internet. I got it on eBay for $255.00, so I think I got a good deal, compared to what I've seen it advertised for.

$255.00 sounds like a great deal for a nice handset, such as this one.

I thought it was too Ellen, since most of them I saw were well over $300 and actually closer to $400. And it came in great shape with all the paperwork, cd, owner's manual, etc. And it's unlocked too!
