http://img.phonescoop.com/img/1.gif http://img.phonescoop.com/img/1.gif http://img.phonescoop.com/img/1.gif I thought I had found a decent enough Carrier...but alas...I was wrong. So peep game, I've had to replace my SDA not 1, not 2, but THREE times so far beacuse of issues. On the 1st phone, it powered off and wouldn't turn back on. PLUS I was only getting download speeds of 10-15kbps in EDGE territory(Live in Indianapolis, work downtown). 2nd phone, vibrate stopped working....STILL only getting 20-25kbps in EDGE territory. 3rd phone, YET AND STILL only getting 25kbps MAX in edge territory. If I put my SIM in another phone...it works fine...it's just that with the SDA...it's not working. Spent HOURS on the phone with tech support today to try to resolve it. Went to the Corp store to try my card in another phone...and again...it works fine. Guess what...they're replacing my phone with ANOTHER SDA....come on now...does NO ONE see a pattern. When I was with sprint, if a phone wasn't working that much, they'd give you the diference of the price of the phone you currently have, and another phone....not t-mobile.

What warranty says is what you get. So now I'm COMPLETELY pissed off....COMPLETELY pissed. Even the store rep was like...dang, why is your internet so slow? Then when I told him what Tech support was gonna do...send me another SDA...he was like..."thats messed up. with this being your third phone and all, you think they'd address the possibility of getting you another phone...a DIFFERENT phone.

What should I do when I get my NEXT sda....and I'm still getting slow speeds?

I don't blame the rep for it or anything, so I'm not by any means calling her incompetent or anything of that nature. She was EXTREMELY nice and tried to be very helpful. I'm pissed at this MILDLY f*ed up system t-mobile has.

T-mobile has a system in place regarding this. If the SDA you get has slow speeds or is in anyway defective, you will get the chance to replace your phone with an alternate phone besides the SDA. This happens if you get a 3rd phone of the same kind that is defective. It sounds like they are sending you your 4th SDA however, is that correct? They might have missed it in the system, call and ask about an alternate replacement if you are having problems. Hope this helps
Maybe some T-mobile reps can shed some more light on this system?

I had a problem with one of my past phones breaking all the time and they let me get a different phone and pay the difference in price.I had to keep going up the teir in customer care though.Call back and politely ask to speak to a supervisor until they can help.It worked for me.

Is there another device you are willing to consider? It is T-mobile company policy that after 3 replacements of the a phone that another option of similar features can be offered. Ask a rep next time to you speak to them what other options they have available in streamline. They should have AT LEAST 1 alternative to the SDA available. I can't make any promises of what it can be as reps in the store don't handle the PDA replacement but insist on another device. If you need to, we can provide you with an alternative number to retentions to speak to someone of supervisory status who can aid you further.

The SDA is mad old. They need to offer the Dash. The Dash replaced the SDA. And soon the Shadow will take the place of the Dash.

Let me ask you this. Does your phone say 25kilo bits per second, or 25 kilo Bytes per second?

I asked cause 25 Kilo Bytes = 250 Kilo bits per second.

According to T-Mobiles Equipment Protection website here: T-Mobile Equipment Protection (http://www.asurion.com/tmobile/newpolicy.asp?model=HTC), the SDA is listed as being covered with a deductible of $110. If you have been paying the EP fee on your account each month, your device most certainly should be covered. If Asurion no longer carries the SDA, the replacement would be of "like kind and quality".
Try calling Asurion's CS at 1-866-268-7221, and see what they would recommend.

Dash maybe??? I don't know, its age might hurt it. I can't imagine they'd off a non smart phone but if they did my guess is its a dash?!

I don't really know if this is ethical or not,but if you have insurance on the phone, just break it and call Assurion. You can actually replace it with a different phone with the same deductible(I know this works,I've done it).I didn't break my phone on purpose though,it was stolen.

The SDA sucks. Ask to see if they will replace with a Dash or something closer and better.

which is precisely how i don't understand how some of these speed test sites determind that 220 kbps = like 70 or 80 KB/s....the math is CLEARLY wrong. 220kbps SHOULD be around 25-30 kb/s

There is overhead with online data, on average it takes 10 bits to create a byte.

Even if the number of bits "needed" to "create" a byte varied (which is untrue), this still doesn't make sense. Yes, there is some overhead in terms of packets, but actually then we should expect even LOWER rates, not higher.
