Wirelessly posted (Dell X50v and/or SE K790a: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))
I'm at McDonald's on 18th Ave, next to Starbucks (that's why I get hotspot)
connect to "tmobile" AP, go to anysite, and I was taken to login site
put my phone number as name, my last 4 as pwd
once it's done, I have to sign an agreements
after that, I am ready
surfing is a snap
using slingbox, the speed goes up to 500kbps, near the limit of outstream of home internet
I am generally impressed with hotspot
note: you don't need any special application to make it work, though I have one

Sounds good, I wish I had one closer to me. We currently have 6 Statbucks in Mendocino County, 2 standalone stores in Ukiah, 1 each inside of Safeway and Lucky's in Ukiah, one inside of Safeway in Willits and 1 standalone store in Fort Bragg on the coast. Out of those, only Fort Bragg has a hot spot, and it's 50 miles from me (I'm 8 miles north of Ukiah). We don't have Kinkos or Borders, so that's out too.
Edit-I guess it's not much of a loss anyway, I rarely go in Starbucks. We have WiFi hotspots around town, but they're either pay or at the hotels which offer it free to guests, and then there's always the unsecured WiFi networks from homes.

Starbucks are everywhere in my city. I'm really diggin the hotspots now that the "total" plan has been reduced. For those with few or no starbucks I've noticed in my travels to and thru smaller towns that alot of the mom/pop coffee houses offer free wifi now. Wifi is def becoming more widespread. Thats a good thing for all.

I just wish there's a starbucks near the restaurant I often have lunch, that I browse net when having lunch
I spend a lot of time at Starbucks and Borders, and both of those are HotSpots.
But now, I'm spending more time at the Barnes and Noble Cafe near my college, because it's like a Starbucks and a Cheesecake Factory combined. And I get half off everything. ;)
Unfortunately (for the purposes of this discussion), they're AT&T. :(
My dash crashes every time i try to access a starbucks hotspot. I gave up.
