WELL TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST, as a rep.... we dont have alot of insite on anything cuz alot of info isnt released to us. now i cannot justify why the reps dont know what a smartphone is... but as far as upcoming phones, projects (3g) and release dates.... we just dont have it:(

Some reps know their stuff, but its not too many of them, I agree. The reps at stores are simply there to sell and some don't take the time and effort to learn what they need to really be successful. If T-Mobile hired TSig members, I can guarantee that their sales would increase! We're awesome people, and we know our stuff, LOL!! :)

Most people who works at T-mobile or any cell phone stores are just there to get some extra money.

So that's why they don't know that much.

A Verizon Wireless customer service representative once actually admitted that I knew more about the technology than she did. :D

I wrote this as a former T-mobile rep and I have to say that while I was stunned by the ineptitude of most of my counterparts I don't think its just this industry that suffers from inexperienced or uncaring employees. I had the "liberty" of listening in on the geek squad while at Best Buy yesterday and I was amazed at how cumbersome they were making situations that were significantly less impacting than the geek squad made them out to be. I watched at least 5 customers and 3 "members" of the geek squad speak and I had to walk away to keep from laughing at how stupid they were. Perhaps my computer knowledge is a little more advanced than most users but I'd hardly consider myself an expert in any respect. People put their livelihood and depend on their computers and having watched the geek squad in action, I'm surprised that people who have taken their computers to them haven't ended up broke or on a funny farm.

just don't hire me, because I am customer magnet.....
I am more willing to help customers than selling products
btw, the sales rep should add their knowledge and value, except it just wants to work less than 12 months

I think customers know more about their wireless service now, thanks to the many great sites like this one!!

Well, it probably is easier to feign ignorance than to explain that you know something, but you just can't tell anyone (regarding T-Mo's 3G network, etc.).

But I don't think that's it. I think some people are just kinda...there for a paycheck.

I can't really blame them for that - but you do have to know your product to sell it.

honestly we are lucky if we know a week in advanced!.... phone scoop, bgr and etc seems to have that "press" power... so they know before we do. also a lot of assumptions are made cause if its a GSM phone u know its going to at&t or us.... and then its a matter of play by ear..

Well, because the people that work at t-mobile stores are there just to sell phones.

When you get paid minimum wage, what's the motivation to learn everything there is to know about cell phones?
