Speaking of Wi-Fi, might I add that the Wi-Fi at Kansas City International Airport is cr...uddy? And I hate the fact that at Denver Int'l, it's AT&T wi-fi or (basically) nothing at all, and they charge for it! Years prior, Intel put out the Wi-Fi and it was free. =(

Edit: I did hear reports a while back that Sacramento wants to do it so all of the City has Wi-Fi access. Currently, they have Capitol Mall (From The State Capitol building to the Tower Bridge going into West Sacramento) as a Wi-Fi, if I remember right.

McDonalds has had WiFi for a while, AT&T provides it through Wayport. For T-Mobile people (and most others) though, you will have to pay, if you have AT&T DSL you can use it free though. Also, you can play your Nintendo DS via their WiFI for free.

Edit- Mickey Dees WiFI site-

McDonald's Wireless Connectivity (http://www.mcdonalds.com/wireless.html)

You can get free WiFI at many hotels now, even the smaller, local ones. All the ones we stay at (Holiday Inn Express, Clarion, Red Roof Inn, Best Western, Super 8) have free WiFi now. I have 7 McDonalds within 60 miles of me, and all but one has WiFi. We have 6 Starbucks in Mendocino County, but only one has a HotSpot.

Good, then there will be more for the rest of us :) I mean, they're not in the same class as Carl's Jr and In-N-Out, but they're okay, you're not afraid someone will think less of you for going in are you? ;)

I guess it depends on the area and the individual location. The ones we have around here are famous for serving some pretty raunchy food. My husband once got a burger with mold growing on the lower bun. A friend of ours was sold an underdone cheeseburger for his kid. That's a good reason to hit BK instead. : )

I totally understand that, we have a place or two we don't go now because of things like that, and a couple because of consistenly bad service.

What's the charge for wifi at mcd?

I think it's like 5 dollars for a few hours, or 9 for the day, something like that. You can use their WiFi free on your Nintendo DS for playing games over the net though, and if you have AT&T DSL you get free access to the McDonald's HotSpots.

Well, I found one more fast food place that has free WiFi, Burger King! We took a trip over to Sacramento today, and stopped in the Burger King in Lakeport (about 30 miles east of me) for breakfast, well, I fired up the WiFI on my Curve just for the heck of it and there it was (Burger King WiFi that is :D ) WiFi and UMA worked like a charm. I haven't seen another Burger King with free WiFi (our local one, located in Ukiah 8 miles south of me doesn't have it. It's where the Amtrak Connecting busses stop too), this is a first, hopefully it'll pressue McDonald's into making theirs free too.

Edit-They have a sign behind the registers saying it's a free WiFi spot, but I didn't see it until we were leaving lol

Thats what I used it for when I first found out. Good times. :D

Just noticed that 2 of the McDonald's in El Dorado County, California have free wi-fi. It is an interesting touch. I would not sit in a McDonalds and use there wi-fi as I would in a coffee shop (Starbucks or otherwise) or a library.

I would/do, I never go in coffee shops, and rarely go in a library anymore. None of the McDonald's have free WiFi here, but I'm glad the Burger King in Lakeport (25 miles east of me in Lake County) now has it, I was surfing away and making UMA calls while eating some breakfast :) I think a few of the local coffee places (Like the Coffee Critic) have free WiFi, but I'm not sure, and while Mendocino County has 6 Starbucks, only one has a HotSpot in it (Fort Bragg).

Edit-Almost all of the hotels here, including the local outfits have free WiFi now. We don't have Kinkos or Borders, so those are out as well.

Edit2-I went to the Burger King web site, and there is no mention of WiFi, so I have a feeling the free WiFi is done by the restaurant itself. Like I said, they had a poster up behind the counter noting it was a free WiFi access point, so they obviously want people to know about and make use of it.

This would be great info for everyone with H@H. Too bad it wasn't categorized with details about (1) if an html login is required, (2) pricing at these spots, (3) a listing of the websites commonly used to find these free wifi spots across the country, etc.. hint hint mods, lol

and everyone knows you can text 'GOOGL' with the words free wifi and your zip code to find hotspots right?

For the Burger King in Lakeport, CA-

1.No login required

2.WiFi is free
