Minnesota's AG Alleges Sprint Nextel Extended Cell Phone Contracts Without Customers' Consent

ST. PAUL (AP) -- Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson sued Sprint Nextel Corp. Thursday, accusing the wireless carrier of extending customers' contracts without their informed consent.

Swanson said she had received hundreds of complaints from Minnesota residents, including some who said they were threatened with a $200 cancellation fee for trying to get out of contracts they thought had expired.

that's why I say Sprint is the nastiest carrier I known
they don't deserve 53 million
13 million would be correct

Sprint is just horrible. The only carrier that I will never consider again

I think Sprint dupes everybody that isn't on their SERO plans. SERO is the only reason I can possibly imagine a logical person going with Sprint. And even then, they'd probably have to have some masochistic tendancies. :)

Somehow I'm not surprised. Sprint is not my idea of the most ethical cell phone carrier in the world.

I hope the final fine is huge, and I hope they lose a lot of customers for it. Companies pull this sort of nonsense when they think the cost, both in terms of money and customers, won't be very high. If it turns out that they get away with a slap on the wrist, we'll see more like that in the future.

My friend's wife is arguing with Sprint right now about a bill she paid. She left for AT&T and paid her last bill, but Sprint claims she didn't. She's faxed over copies of the cancelled check and copies of bank statements all to no avail.

Does anyone know the outcome of this issue...or anywhere we can keep up with how it is going?
