Can a phone obtained from Deutsche Telekom in Germany be used on the T-Mobile network in the U.S. without modification? The reason I'm asking is the IPhone Partnership with Deutsche Telekom.

The iPhone, since its Apple and due to their exclusivity agreements, may lock it strictly to T-Mobile Germany's network, so an unlock would probably be necessary to use it stateside.

that is correct you will not be able to use the t-mobile germany version of the iphone it will be locked to there network ... and all honesty all phones in europe besides france are locked to the networks most of the time... no carrier in france can lock there phones it is against fedral law that is why the iphone is delayed in launch in france
