Yeah, but I don't see how Sprints plan would be competitive with T-Mobiles since MyFaves gives you unlimited calling to 5 people.
Well, I know I wouldn't have any problem selling it... considering it is an add-on to current rate plans.
The hard sell is Sprint, but that's more of a joke than anything. When it comes to surveys, customer service is fairly low on the list when it comes to purchasing decisions.

PROS:
a) It's an add-on
b) It's free
*Quite competitive
CONS:
a) Sprint Customer Service
b) CDMA = locked to Sprint phones, must call to switch which phone you wanna use on the network

Those two cons that you just listed here alone would keep me away. Nothing beats the convenience of SIM cards when it comes to swapping your phones out on a daily bases. If I'm not mistaken, Sprint charges their customers to change the ESN numbers on their handsets as well.

Good find, i'm interested how Sprint is going to handle something like this. myFaves has been a huge success for T-Mobile, but with Sprints CS and the requirement of having to speak with them to manage your 2, are really a bad combination, i think.

One more con, their coverage stinks! They don't even have service up here, nor in many areas of NorCal.

Regardless this is a step in the right direction. Perhaps that day of truly unlimited anywhere any-network anyone calling is sooner than we originally thought. And I like the fact that Sprint includes it for free with little restriction. As far as the phone aspect, they will surely develop a web site or VRU for this as the service launches more openly.
I love the myFaves experience, but I know myriad of people that don't want specific handsets or to switch plans. It's too bad T-Mobile doesn't have a myFaves Lite option and the Premium edition for those that want it all.

maybe its just me...
but isnt 5 > 3?
i dunno, just a thought
but dont get me wrong
sprint is taking a step forward in the right direction
maybe its just me...

i dunno, just a thoughtYes, but in the case of Sprint, the article states it is an add-on to current plans. This is not true of TMO's current offering... so some may find more value in Sprint's offering.
Some might say it is apples and oranges.... Both are tasty, but some still prefer one over the other.
I only state this as it relates to My5 vs. Sprint's offering.

Absolutely, I have many customers requesting myfaves as an add on. The true problem for sprint is the fact that only their new billing system is compatible. My fiance is a sprint care rep and the roll out on the new billing system is going to be a long slow road, already hindered by many delays.

In the case of TMO, it has taken years for them to learn their primary billing system... The first time I sat through Avery's briefing on the topic, my head almost exploded. I mean, there's gotta be an easier way.

"I'm very curious about this homegrown billing system... "
So are a lot of sprint csr's, atleast in her call center. No one there has seen it yet, and apparently there is a couple week time frame that makes a customers account un-viewable and un-manageable until the transition is complete.
I love how MyCircle gets worse every time another company "imagines" it.
Alltel: Call any ten people you want, for free!
T-Mobile: Call any five people you want, for free!
Sprint: Call any three people you want, for free!
Granted, Alltel is the smallest of the "major" networks (followed by T-Mobile and Sprint, incidentally) - their mobile-to-mobile isn't really worth much, so they came up with MyCircle instead.
I think T-Mobile's MyFaves is kinda the "sweet spot," though. You can get it on plans as low as $39 (MyCircle is only "free" as long as you have a $60 voice plan!), and the MyFaves interface on phones is nice. I know it's the bane of some people's existence, but I like it.

Small in numbers, but in terms of actual coverage Alltel is number one.

I don't consider Alltel "major" It's not available in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland or Seattle. That's nearly 26 million people.
Alltel is more of a regional carrier.

That's true, they aren't a national carrier, they're a regional one, but they are major. They have over 12 million customers, and are worth $24 billion.
They also cover more area than any other carrier-

A lot of GSM coverage is provided by Alltel as well, though only to roamers.

Only if roaming partners are considered. Without any California coverage it sure would make hard to be number one.

Alltel has coverage in CA, look again :) They cover the Owens Valley (Bishop, Lone Pine, Big Pine, Independence, Olancha, Darwin) and Mammoth area, as well El Centro and eastward.
Edit-Western Wireless is part of Alltel now, I guess I should have said that, but I assumed everybody knew by now ;)
Edit2-I see you are from Poky, so is my mom, dad and a lot of my family! Idaho State Grad here, I have family there, in IF and all around SE ID. IM me, we probably have a lot in common!

Sorry it took so long to respond, school's kinda kickin' my rearend right now. Granted, there is some alltel coverage in CA, just not in the vast majority. I actually work in an authorized t-mobile dealer in the mall in poky, so if any of your family has/wants t-mo send them my way. I promise to take care of them. We're not your typical dealer, we take care of our customers. I definitely will hit you up on IM sometime.:D

When is Sprint implementing this 3 people thing?
When is Sprint implementing this 3 people thing? It appears to be dependent on the implementation and conversion to a new homegrown billing system... so without the wheels falling off, 2011?

Can I assume this is sarcasm? Haha I hope they have this implemented before 2011...even T-mobile's 3G wont take that long.

(June 2008) This add-on is still available from SPRINT. It is no longer a corporate-wide promotion, but I had a CS rep help me. He knows all the "codes". I am gappy.

I'll look into this when I go to work tomorrow, but "MyFaves" and "Pick 3" still seem like paltry offers compared to "MyCircle 10 and 20."
