I think that it might be a cool feature to have on here so registration is quicker and easier for users.

Yeah, registration here is easy...but I think that we would get more users signing up if we had it on the homepage...we get a ton of page. 50% of people visit the site 2x or less. I think we could get that number down and have more visitor loyalty if they registered.
Of course we would have to have a way to prevent spammers.

I agree. As for the spammers, you may just need a few extra Mods to keep an eye on this site when the member numbers start to grow.
