2 year contract requirement....is a no-no for me.

Yeah...agreed. I'm almost to month-to-month...that will be nice.
I know T-mobile is trying out the two year contract thing...but I hope they get rid of it. It is quite annoying.

IMO, T-mo won't get rid of it until AT&T/Cingular and Verizon gets rid of it... and I know THAT's not happening anytime soon... especially since AT&T/Cingular just officially dropped 1-year contracts a couple weeks ago. Now it's either 2-year contracts, or no contracts (but no discounts/promotional plan features either). :(

EDIT: I agree with you that 2 years is really a long time... BUT it MAY be worthwhile to consider switching plans if the customer: has been with T-mo for a while, knows that the service works well (and has been working well) everywhere he/she frequents, doesn't upgrade phones that often, and will save a significant amount in those 2 (or more) years after switching.

For me, when I first signed up years ago, I got the same exact plan (different name) with a 1-year contract. Even if it was a 2-year contract, it wouldn't have mattered since I've been a T-mo customer for 5 years now (and 4+ of them was on that plan). :D

I'm trying to get my plan changed to this but I can't find it when I'm logged in My T-Mobile when I go under Plan and Services > Change Plan? Why is this? I really would like this plan :(

I'm going to double check this...but my best guess is because this plan requires a 2 year contract commitment changing to it may require stopping into one of our stores or calling customer cares directly.

Christy, i'm definitely going to check this out in the AM and i'll contact customer care and find out exactly whats going on with that. I'll post back sometime in the morning after I find out. Looking at our employee news site is proving useless so I'll get some better info.

Did you switch to the Get More 1000 Plus Promotional Plan yet? It really should be no problem whatsoever. I know you can get it done if you called in (I'm not sure if T-mo made it available online though).

Well, you can always call 611 and have them BACKDATE the plan change to THIS billing cycle. That way you can save $10 THIS MONTH too! (Just be aware that if you do this, that means any minutes you used this billing cycle will come out of the 1000 Anytime Minutes + Unlimited N&W. So if you used over 1000 Anytime Minutes, you WILL be billed overages for this month.)

our senior Sergeant called 611 today to "upgrade" his plan to 1000N/W, and extend 2 more years on his plan, and the new plan will be in effect tomorrow (his billing cycle ends today as he told me)
WOW!!!
I have no plan to get this plan, because I am not a big talker, current plan works better

I dunno, but it still shows the promo plan(s) online for SoCal. I'm hoping T-mo extended the promo to 6/30/07 (or even longer). That would be the WISE thing to do, especially with all the iPhone and what-not coming out at the end of the month...

and promote this deal to other co-workers, and it's likely they will get it
I think T-Mobile should give a free month as commission:)

Hahahhaha... I agree! If that were the case, I'd only have to pay 6 months worth of my annual service! :p

Seriously though, I think they should reinstate something like Loyalty Minutes again... that would be nice! :D

since im on prepay, i have been using about 1000 mins a month, which includes the mms/sms msgs i send and recieve. i try to not let my fone get below 600 mins or u loose the .10c a min rate and have to buy another $50.00 card. im seriously thinking about going contract, because id get more for the same amount im spending now. but i like the number dont expire for a yr and gold rewards, that is what is preventing me from making the upgrade. lol im to busy to think about when id have to pay my fone bill ya know, oh crap i didnt pay my bill yesterday. then have to rush out and pay it. since im on the road alot i can just stop in at a gas station and buy what airtime i need then and there ya know.

I think they are stupid. Why would they put that up, when that is there general website. People that are in the Central, Mountain, and West Coast haven't reached 12 midnight yet, so they dumb. Unless, their website can determine where u are located.

these plans are a great deal and all, like the 129 bucks for the 5000 mins a month, the flex pay, etc... but my only drawback is having to be bound to a contract, my credit is great dont get me wrong, i just dont like to be dragging a ball and chain around. lol im in a bind kinda, half my friends use tmobile and the other half use cingular, so in order to talk for free to the cingy half i need to reactivate my cingy sim for the free m2m to be able to talk to them, and for the tmobile half its 10c/min which i dont mind paying, and anyone else on cingy i talk to is 10c.min aswell... i may have to break down and go contract on tmobile and dump the cingy totally, id be carrying around 3 fones if i wanted to talk the way im doing it now, a razr v3(unlocked), a nokia 6030(unlocked), and a sidekick3(for internet only)...i could pay the 129 bucks/month and add myfaves then id be all set oh and also add the 5.99 internet...then i know for sure i wouldnr ever run outta mins and only have to carry 1 fone around... ho hum, such a hard descision to make lol...seriously though, i dont know what would be my best bet to do????

CSI_Nut

You could port the Cingy number to T-Mobile and keep only the T-Mobile. Then, you would still be paying to talk to your Cingy friends, but they would not have to pay to talk to you. There's something about the Cingy system that doesn't recognize when a number ports out.

Example: I had a Tracfone based on Cingular. I ported the number to T-Mobile. When I call my T-Mobile phone with a different Cingular GoPhone, the GoPhone only deducts the $1/day but not the 10 cpm. It thinks I'm talking to another Cingular customer. ;)

but my only drawback is having to be bound to a contract, my credit is great dont get me wrong, i just dont like to be dragging a ball and chain around.

You can choose to get flexpay. Flexpay is not just for people with bad credit. Even if you have the best consumer credit class, you can choose to have a no contract flexpay line (up to 3 no contract ones). You just have to pay full price for the phone. If you already have one, then just get set up on it. You can have a myfaves plan with tmobile to tmobile added to that for an additional $6.99. Then you have unlimited calls to your tmobile friends and unlimited calls to 5 cingular friends. And no contract too.

interesting.....
if i went to flex would my current mins be gone or would they still be used towards flexpay? cs told me if i went contract, that id loose my mins from prepay, but if they stayed then i may do what ya said about flexpay...

hey CSI_Nut i just tried putting a tracfone sim into an unlocked tmobile 6030 and it said it was locked based on putting in that tracfone sim, but any other sim i insert works great, i know the fone is unlocked cause i unlocked it via tmobile and like i said all my other sims that r non tmo works, have u had any issues like this? i was gonna sell my 6030 in exchange for a new tmo starter kit to go into my sidekick3. i know tracfones r goofy when it comes to their way they do things. seems i can put cingy sim into a tracfone but not a tracfone sim into a cingy :(

CSI_Nut
08-04-2007, 11:20 PM
Evil, you can't put a Tracfone SIM in any other phone than the one it was activated on, not even another Tracfone! I wasn't talking about switching a Tracfone SIM into a T-Mo phone. I was talking about actually porting the number out to T-Mobile. Since Tracfone was leasing the number from Cingular, Cingular considered it their number for the purposes of M2M. When it was ported to T-Mobile, Cingular never caught on to that fact - it has been almost a year I think (not really sure, at least 6 months), and I still get Cingular rates on calls to my T-Mobile phone from a GoPhone.

At this time there are no conversions into flexpay. If you have a prepaid phone and you want to go flexpay, you can use your current phone, but you need to get a new SIM and phone number. This restriction is in place for at least the first 60 days after launch. And yes, for prepaid to regular postpaid you do lose your minutes. It is unclear about prepaid to flexpay (when it happens) if you'll be able to keep the minutes. You MIGHT (this is just theory on my part and NOTHING has been said by T-Mobile about this) be able to transfer the minutes to your flexaccount so that you can use it for calling when your whenever minutes run out or for downloads off of T-Zones.
