First off: upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 HERE (http://t-mobile.com/wmupgrade). It is recommended that you remove your memory card and hard reset your phone before doing this upgrade. Hard reset can be found at start/accessories/clear storage.
This upgrade will also delete everything on your phone. If you have pictures, videos, music, contacts saved you need to save them to a pc or a memory card before the upgrade. There is also a known issue that happens when the upgrade is done on a Windows Vista pc. It will not work the first time you try. Dont disconnect the phone just run the application again and it will work the second time.
Second, you need to application unlock your phone. This allows you to install 3rd party applications. App unlock can be found HERE (http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/DashApps.htm)
Some other great applications can be found there as well. Some will be mentioned later.
Installing Applications:
There are two ways to install applications on the Dash. One type is .cab files. These files are to be placed on the phone itself. Then open the File Explorer, find the file and click it. it will automatically install. The second type are Windows Installers. Connect your phone to your pc and run Activesync (activesync is on the disk that came with the phone). Then find the file on your pc and click it.
Ringtones:
You can use .mp3 ringtones. The mp3s can be placed into the phone or on a memory card. For the phone use file explorer and cut and paste the mp3 into My Device/Application Data/Sounds folder. Mp3s on the storage card must be placed in the root folder of the card. In other words they cannot be in a folder.
Games:
Nintendo emulator and roms(games) can be found at the surrealnetworks link above.
Buttons: A=p B=o start=h select=g d-pad for directions
Java games can be found HERE (http://getjar.com)
