View Full Version : Graduating Soon! Help!
Hello everyone! I'll be graduating from CU-Boulder this December and I have already started interviewing at several companies. However, I'm not sure what I want to do as a career. Personally, I love building websites like T-MobileSignal but I have to find a job that pays...for now. For the past two years, I've been working at IBM as a co-op pre-programmer and before that, I worked at Sony as an assistant retail manager. Do you have any suggestions/advice on how I can discover the right career path for me? I'm really looking to find out how you discovered your career right after graduating from college. Tell me about your experience!
Thanks a million everyone! :work:

Wow Alex, what an exciting time of your life you are embarking on! I know all about being indecisive, I changed my major in college several times before just going with Mathematics. Can you get a job at IBM? Seems like a great place to work, network and pursue what you want to do. Is co-op like a non-paying type thing??
The Co-op Programmer position that I am in pays quite nicely. However, my contract ends this December. Therefore, I need to choose a position. I've looked at several IBM jobs but haven't really found much that interests me. I think I'm going to apply to jobs at the Fortune 500 companies.

This may not be the best info, but you're young. Job hop and try out a couple things until you find what you like doing. I'm 27 and I still haven't found what I really want to do. I'm about to take a job that will help me get in pharma sales. I'm also planning on studying for the GMAT to go back to school for an MBA.

I have to agree with ikuma3, until you know exactly what it is you want, try different things. I mean, i'm only 21, but i've hopped from different Cellular jobs, to telecommunications, even gone the food industry and teaching/training route. The only thing i know for sure is that i love tech and want to be in that field, and i wanna be filthy rich! LOL
