Does anyone know if T-Mobile plans to sell the iPhone after Cingular's exclusive contract with Apple ends?

When the phone comes out Cingular will sell it. Only Cingular.
Cingular probably signed a contract with Apple saying that they will be the only seller of the Iphone for X amount of years (most likely 1 or 2)
I don't know how long this contract states that Cingular will be the only seller of this phone, but I'm guessing about 4 months after the contract is up, T-mobile will pick up the Iphone (That is how long T-mobile usually takes IMO)
Hope I answered your question somewhat.

That phone is sweet! Too bad T-Mobile won't get it, but at&t needs gimmicks like this to make up for their horrible coverage. From what I understand it's going to cost an arm and a leg to have the internet on that thing. Hopefully T-Mobile will get it in a year. If not, I'm sure you'll be able to buy it online unlocked for a hefty price.

I heard a little less then that cesarri, but it will still be pretty expensive.
I wonder how At&t will feel if it goes to Europe before they release it here.

iPhone is going to be exclusive to AT&T for something like 5 years I believe.
I guess a lot of people are going to be unlocking the iPhone then. Do you know why Apple chose to sign a 5 year agreement with one carrier?

My guess is the incentive was quite nice for Apple. Plus, Apple uses at&t for their corporate dialing plan fro all Apple Employees. They basically buy a large chunk of minutes and every employee shares it like a mega family plan.

Apparently, either Apple or AT&T (or both) was quoted in some article I read that the iPhone will be the HARDEST PHONE TO UNLOCK (if even possible)... EVER! Some rumors even state that the iPhone will have a permanently sealed SIM card inside of the phone (sorta like how the iPhone's battery won't be user-replacable either). I guess AT&T has no plans to allow users of this phone to use it with any other carrier...

This is the exact same information that I have heard as well. The phone will not be able to be "unlocked". Also, features like Visual Voice mail would only work with the AT&T network as it is a network feature. Think of that part like T-Mobile's MyFAVS

That would be kinda screwy. I wonder how much the phones will go for on eBay. I bet over $600.00.

AT&T has it exclusively for five years. Supposedly it will be very hard if not impossible to unlock it.

Judging by the "secret stats" that were "released" this morning not only is this phone one of the hardest phones to unlock, its also one of the most locked down phones. I mean we knew this was coming, that apple would maintain some sense of control over the phones features etc...
No web/voice while on edge, only wifi....
No MMS messaging...
No instant messaging features...
No ringtones supported through Cingulars various media services
No one touch dialing, two touches at the minimum...
tons more...find the rest at engadgetmobile.com
I'm smelling Verizon like control here....

I read from boygeniusreport
that the phone has no SIM slot (?!), or you have to destroy the housing to remove the SIM

actually the iPhone does have a sim slot open for change. it might not be as hard to unlock as we think. and supposed rumors state that the iPhone might hit the euro market in oct-nov and t-mobile uk is heading up the frontline for it. who knows what will happen?

Apple underestimate the ability of hackers, esp there're a lot of genii in Russia and Asia countries, they can break in any computer if they want!

If iPhone will enter European markets by the end of 2007, it has to be unlocked. Otherwise, Apple doesn't have any chance to conquer markets in Europe and Asia, where people buying mostly unbranded handsets.

All I can say is good luck to the people who actually get one of these, and I hope they are careful with their handsets. Knowing the reputation that Cingular has for not allowing insurance on any of their expensive handsets, this one won't be any different.
