Apple not selling iPhone 3G in Apple Canada Retail Stores

Well… The petitions may have worked, but not in the customer’s favor. According to AppleInsider, Apple has pulled the iPhone 3G from their retail stores in Canada in response to customer’s outrage with how, shall we say, crappy the data plans are on Rogers Wireless.

According to a private conference call Monday evening, Rogers and Fido will have to make a plan for iPhone customers with a minimum of 150 minutes, 75 text messages, and 400MB of data, all for $60/month on a 3-year contract. Compared to the AT&T plans in the US (450 minutes, no texting, unlimited data), that is very unfair, but it’s typically how things go in Canada.

Only Roger and affiliates will be able to sell them, yet Apple will have demo units if you decide you want to play with them. Where this will lead it’s not for sure, but you have to love this quote from Apple:

“We have nothing to do with the service plans. Those are Rogers’ plans.”

T-Mobile 3G to go National By October?

If there is one thing that people have been complaining about on T-Mobile, it’s the lack of 3G coverage. While they’re starting to change that with rolling out service in New York, there is no major roll out of the service or a time table. Well, that may be about to change.

The latest swirl of rumors is saying that by October 1, 2008, T-Mobile will launch 3G in their top markets that include places such as Austin, Chicago, Denver, and Seattle. While T-Mobile has four 3G (blah…) phones released and out for purchase, they are also planning on releasing the Sony Ericsson Bella, an Android device, and a mysterious one, all of which run on the 3G network. Another device includes Samsung phone with a five megapixel camera.

Let’s all cross our fingers for this new set of developments to be true.

T-Mobile gets BlackBerry Javelin with “Safe Mode” and Gaming

T-Mobile users can finally rejoice as they’ll get a new QWERTY BlackBerry with OS 4.6 soon enough. The BlackBerry Javelin (the Bold’s lesser, non-3G enabled cousin) will arrive on T-Mobile… Well, possibly mid-2009. Granted, times change and it may be sped up (hopefully it will be).
