the "click-through" feature is kinda cool, but it basically does only one thing: make using a touchscreen device more difficult than it should be. i know RIM is only doing it to retain their crown for having some of the best keyboards one can get on a mobile, but they fail to realize is the feel of the keys, not the clicking, that satisfies their target market.

i wish they'd focus on their primary market instead of branching out into the consumer space as my shares in RIM are taking a beating. sorry, but such a closed and secure device cannot survive in the consumer space. they would be smarter to create a more open OS for consumers only and maintain the original OS for business users who need the security.

why?

for one, it would reduce the added stress on RIM's servers and result in better, faster service for all. second, it will give consumers what they want... the ability to customize the device to their tastes beyond RIM's very narrow requirements for compatibility. i love my blackberry, but because it's a secure platform for instant, multi-level communications. you cant have it both ways. add to the fact that there's a HUGE catalog for blackberry software add-ons but no one single place to find them all. this is why the android market will be so popular as it gives people a single repository for apps that's accessible and robust.
